I looked at the reflection and saw my face,
And I remarked: “What is this place?
“The visage that stares back at me
“Is not the person that I see.”

For you in the mirror look at me
As if I were supposed to see
Beyond your eyes, to the skies
Where no clouds lie.

To obscure me, from me.
Though I yearn to see.
Many faces, many places.
Many times, many climes.

In the face of another,
I saw my brother.
In the face of another,
I saw my mother.

In my face I long to see,
What is looking back at me.
To rest in eternal knowing,
The reflection of my Soul, glowing.

Given in love and in service,
Richard Jelusich, Ph.D.
